- Perform Medical Procedures And Provide Regular Medical Services As Required For Assigned Clients
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems.
- Prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality client care according to procedure
- Record normal and abnormal data for review by the physician
- Take client histories and conduct physical examinations, recording data in client records.
- Write progress notes and narrative discharge summaries according to procedure
- Prepare client workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the client.
- Perform therapeutic procedures such as wound suturing and dressing changes.
- Monitor progress of clients, report progress to the supervising physician and maintain record of each client's progress.
- Participate in basic science and clinical research projects conducted by supervising physician.
- Prepare statistical reports and analyses outlining progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Maintain good working relationships with all staff, clients and visitors.
- Assist in teaching medical students and physician assistant students in techniques and procedures unique to the Primary Care Clinic setting.
- All other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
- Participate in Job Training and Education Programs, Meetings and Committees.
- Attend mandatory in-service annually.
- Participate in various committees and meetings as requested.
- Attend seminars to further professional development.
- Current Physician Assistant License in the State of New York issued by the Bureau of Licensing - NYSDOH
- Eligibility or certification as an HIV Specialist in the State of New York.
- 2 years experience with management of HIV and population served, preferably within substance abuse treatment program(s).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to speak, read and write Spanish preferred.
- Must possess sight and digital senses or prosthetics that will enable the essential functions of the job to be completed.
