    As part of a diverse and hardworking team, you will advocate system engineering and integration practices across disciplines and teams in areas of electrical analysis, design, maintenance and integrated testing. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. You will be responsible for seamless and interrupted operations across a high-volume of Blue Origin facilities including our launch pad by planning, implementing and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment of buildings and facilities by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, energy use, repairs and modifications on a variety of electrical systems such as switchgears, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, generators and Uninterruptable Power Systems.

    You will be involved in electrical systems engineering and maintenance, including requirements development and decomposition, technical trade study support, risk management, verification planning and testing. These responsibilities will require a wide application of advanced systems engineering principles, theories and concepts plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines. In this role, you will assist the Blue Origin Facilities team with coordination and planning, interfacing with program management and customers, and providing guidance to less experienced engineers on the team.

    The Facilities Electrical Aerospace Systems Engineer III position will be located in Merritt Island Florida and will require at least 50% travel, Kent Washington, Alabama and Texas.

    Qualifications:

  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance plans and procedures on critical electrical systems
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance activities on electrical critical systems
  • Assist in trouble shooting problems, diagnosing and recommending repairs and develop repair scopes
  • Maintain and analyze equipment data and historical records to reduce or eliminate repetitive failures
  • Develop drawings and specifications to define requirements for building repairs and modifications
  • Identify and coordinate budgeting and procurement of spare parts
  • Provide safe and thorough maintenance production support as part of a team with primary emphasis on switchgear, generators and Uninterruptible Power System
  • Perform work in compliance with National Electrical Code, Safety Health and Environmental Affairs (SHEA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and other applicable codes and regulations
  • Read and assess blueprints, schematics and technical drawings to complete all maintenance operations within the best practices of the brand and maximize the performance lifetime of all systems and equipment
  • Aggregate and evaluate data and documents parts, material usage and operational progress in an electronic database to create and author operational, shift and maintenance reports
  • Meet ambitious deadlines and timelines by prioritizing concurrent tasks, developing work plans and fostering synergistic communication between staff members and managers across numerous departments to share progress, resolve roadblocks and design executable action plans
  • Coordinate and communicate with management, engineering, equipment vendors and business partners to analyze equipment design requirements and capabilities, schedule maintenance and mitigate concerns
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Manager to maintain appropriate modification and preventive maintenance records
  • Identify and maintain critical parts for electrical systems
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure that necessary amounts of inventory are in stock to reduce any delays or down time of equipment
  • Communicate and apply mission assurance principles throughout the organization
  • Coach, mentor and technically assist other engineers
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and operational cost savings
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with complex facility design, operations and maintenance
  • Recent facility development or management experience supporting mission critical operations
  • Experience in sub-contract management of suppliers including request for proposal, specification and statement of work
  • Strong project management, budget management and team leadership skills
  • Project planning, schedule and cost estimation
  • Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Florida Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Desired:

  • Experience with launch vehicle, aircraft, or spacecraft manufacturing, or integration and test
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • System Safety analysis experience including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Functional Hazard Analysis
  • Experience with failure investigations
  • Experience supporting proposal evaluations
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices, manufacturing fabricating and assembly processes, and quality control
