    DESCRIPTION OF WORK


    In this position, you will have the responsibility of performing various welding tasks on both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This includes welding, brazing, soldering, and cutting metal using arc, acetylene, or mig welders. You will primarily work on machinery and equipment within the department, which may involve repairing winter services equipment and fabricating replacement or new parts. You will also operate power hand tools, air tools, and motorized equipment while carrying out welding and fabrication tasks. Safety is a top priority, so it is essential to assess your surroundings and prioritize the safety of yourself, your colleagues, and the general public.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    • Full-time employment
    • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
    • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Special Requirement:

    • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
    Additional Requirements:
    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Preferred Qualifications (not required):

    • Experience using plasma cutters, metal inertial gas welders, tungsten gas welders, and arc welders.
    • Six or months of experience estimating the cost of quantity and cost of materials, supplies, and equipment along with man hours on fabricating projects.
    • Experience reading/referring to blueprints/schematics.
