    We're looking for an outstanding Supply Base Manufacturing Engineering who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.

    As a Supply Base Manufacturing Engineer at Amazon Prime Air, you will be at the forefront enabling Amazon's future delivery system.

    You will be technical leader within the supply base manufacturing team in developing and scaling Prime Air's manufacturing supplier network.

    You develop engagement models with suppliers, establish mechanisms that help identify supplier manufacturing issues, support root cause analysis and process improvement.

    You are a learner and doer at heart, who continuously engages across business, technical and operational teams to achieve amazing outcomes.


    Summary of Responsibilities:
    Become an Amazon Prime Air product and manufacturing expert
    Lead non-recurring supplier projects through the entire lifecycle from design, prototype to production, including onsite support for new product introductions and design/process development
    Lead the supplier manufacturing capability assessments and onsite audits to support Prime Air's supplier selection process
    Develop mechanisms to improve and enhance manufacturing performance
    Manage and coordinate product development and product launches between Prime Air and its supplier network
    Collaborate with Prime Air's manufacturing supplier network to implement instrumentation to monitor manufacturing processes
    Responsible for supplier sustaining activities, including change management, design/process improvements and root cause analysis
    Track and communicate project performance on qualitative and quantitative measures

    Export Control License:
    This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

    Key job responsibilities
    Create the Manufacturing documentation package for the supplier
    Assess supplier capability to produce the product
    Review and approve supplier proposed manufacturing process
    Manage technical changes with supplier
    Ensure on time delivery for all NPI builds
    Visit suppliers to qualify process and product
    Implement performance tracking for yield, quality and output

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role
    • Comprehensive knowledge in electronic manufacturing of power electronics / rechargeable lithium ion batteries / perception / communication / computing / control systems
    • Knowledge of battery cell manufacturing: prismatic cell winding, slurry mixing, foil cutting/slitting, electrode foil, lamination, cell grading and more
    • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing: solder profiling, automated optical inspection, surface mount technology, crimping, PCB router programming and more
    • Knowledge of machining/moulding/additive manufacturing: milling, drilling, turning, CNC programming, injection, laminating, casting, extrusion, 3D printing and more
    • Demonstrated experience in collaborating with design engineering and suppliers on product development, engineering/manufacturing specifications and new product launches
    • Demonstrated background in manufacturing outsourcing and developing suppliers
    • Experience with DfX concepts (Design for Manufacturing, Cost, Quality, etc)
    • Demonstrated experience with business communication, can effectively communicate with business, technical and operational teams
    • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to travel 30% globally to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors/Masters/PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical education or equivalent field of study preferred
    • 7+ years of professional experience in a similar role
    • Experience working in aerospace manufacturing or with highly regulated products
    • Experience with new product introductions and scaling manufacturing
    • Ability to learn and adopt new technologies quickly
    • Selfmotivated and ability to guide a team to solving ambiguous problems
