    Recruitment Range: $25.66-$29.83 hourly dependent on knowledge and experience

    Minimum Preparation for Work:
    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in the appropriate discipline, and three (3) years of pertinent experience, two (2) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
    • In certain positions, two (2) years of pertinent experience may be substituted for one (1) year of college for up to two (2) years of college or college beyond the Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for experience on a two to one ratio. For example, a Master's Degree in the appropriate field is equivalent to one year of experience.
    Necessary Special Requirements:
    • Possession of an appropriate driver license for equipment operated and any license, training or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.
    Nature of Work:
    This is responsible professional administrative work directing a City operation.

    An employee in this class is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work of professional, technical, and non?professional employees. Work involves the application of professional and administrative knowledge. General direction is usually received from a department head. Work is reviewed through periodic conferences and or an evaluation of plans, reports, and accomplishments.

    Examples of Work:
    • Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of a City operation.
    • Prepares budget estimates and controls expenditures of departmental appropriations.
    • Formulates policies and regulations in consultation with subordinate supervisory employees and with the concurrence of the department head.
    • Selects personnel; participates in the training and development of personnel; has responsibility for other personnel matters (i.e., disciplinary actions, etc.).
    • Makes periodic inspections to assess operation and determine needs.
    • Prepares and maintains technical and administrative operating records and reports.
    • Acts as liaison with Federal, State, local and other agencies.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Thorough knowledge of pertinent principles, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment applied in the specified field.
    • Thorough knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws and ordinances governing the activities of the operation.
    • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
    • Thorough knowledge of departmental rules and regulations.
    • Ability to plan, organize, assign, direct, and inspect the work of employees engaged in technical, sub-professional, and other levels of skilled work to secure effective results.
    • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to do technical research and to write clear and concise reports.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
