    Job Title: Parts Manager

    Department: Parts

    Reports To: General Parts Manager

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Position Purpose:

    Oversees all aspects of the branch Parts Department both internally and field. As the direct point of contact for both internal and external customers, the Parts Manager is responsible for directing and supervising the daily activities of the warehouse and parts counter staff, with the goal of ensuring the highest internal and external customer satisfaction through maintaining profitable and satisfactory inventory levels of parts for the branch.

    Essential Job Functions:


    • Develops and maintains close and lasting relationship with our customers.


    • Develops reasonable objectives for the Parts Department to include customer service.


    • Maintains a balanced and acceptable inventory consistent with the requirements of our product owners and service department.


    • Parts inventory should maximize turnover and minimize obsolescence.


    • Establish and maintain Parts price parameters for all product lines that will generate maximum gross profit sales goals.


    • Oversees the authorized plans and programs are carried out by the Parts Department as to inventory levels, profit, warranty, customer satisfaction, service, and convenience.


    • Keeps informed of training program for parts personnel either as a department function or in conjunction with manufacturers. This might require travel by parts personnel.


    • Ensure that the parts literature, instruction sheets, price sheets, reference material, promotional material, etc. is properly maintained and kept up to date and available on all items supplied to our customers.


    • Advises management of any recommendations for improvements


    • Takes an active part in company sales and service meetings, acts as a catalyst in the promotion and sale of parts through all possible means. Explore and seek out new business partners.


    • Continually studies parts management practices and makes every effort to keep posted on the latest and most efficient methods of running a profitable Parts Department.


    • Ensures that a proper library of manuals, service bulletins, instructions and references for mechanics, equipment and service operations is maintained and properly used.


    • Work with customers to resolve any complaints/issues.


    • Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency.


    • Maintain a safe and compliant working environment.


    • Ensure company assets are maintained for optimum reliability, safety, while controlling costs.


    • Proficient in the use of basic office equipment, including PC's, business software, network applications, and internet-based business portals.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Responsible for hiring/termination, performance appraisals, corrective action of all assigned parts personnel including, but not limited to: Parts Runner, Parts Specialist, Parts Warehouse Associate and Senior Parts Specialist.

    Education and/or Experience:


    • High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred


    • 5+ years' experience in inventory management/parts sales.


    • Previous supervisory experience preferred.


    • Compensation is commensurate with experience.

    Physical Demands:


    • This position requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, pushing, climbing, moving and reaching overhead and working overhead.


    • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and work inside and outdoors in various climate and temperatures.

    • Ability to operate a forklift.

    Work Environment:


    • This position is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, hazardous materials, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise levels. Appropriate PPE gear must be worn as required.

    Computer Skills:


    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient utilizing computers including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Internet Explorer and general laptop or desktop computer use.


    • Advanced technical software application understanding with relevant industry experience.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:


    • Must have valid Driver's License to operate company vehicles.


    • Forklift Certified.
