    Job Summary
    Rogers Behavioral Health is a leading healthcare provider with a long history of delivering top-quality psychiatric services and cutting-edge research. Our not-for-profit behavioral health system offers comprehensive care to adults and child/adolescent patients in our communities, providing multiple levels of services including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient care.

    About the Role
    In this position, you will serve as a team leader in our patient care model, utilizing a multi-faceted treatment team methodology. As a physician, you will have the opportunity to work in one or more levels of care, both live and virtually, while supporting patient admissions, protocol development, quality assurance, and peer review evaluations. You will collaborate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants, oversee residents and fellows during educational rotations, and participate in various meetings and activities.

    Responsibilities
    • Attend Patients at the Site:
      • Attend patients and assist with patient coverage at assigned locations, which may include multiple sites, levels of care, or virtual services within the scope of licensure.
    • Conduct medication management sessions, patient psychiatric evaluations, assessments, histories, and physicals.
    • Create patient treatment plans and manage updates.
    • Perform patient and family education, participate in team and unit meetings, and create discharge plans.
    • Collaborate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants, provide oversight of medical residents and fellows, and participate in established call schedules.
    • Complete all charting and documentation within 24 hours and serve as attending physician for assigned units.
    • Round on patients as required, complete emergency detentions, and provide medication education to nursing staff.
    • Meet patient productivity standards and adhere to coding and documentation requirements.
    • Attend Medical Staff and Medical Staff Executive Committee meetings.
    • Payor Relations:
      • Develop and maintain positive relationships with contracted payors.
    • Review denials of service from payors deemed for medical reasons.
    • Interface with referring parties, psychiatrists, and primary care physicians to coordinate care and aftercare.
    • Market Rogers Behavioral Health as appropriate, including off-site meetings and marketing activities.
    • Review potential admissions, pending cases, and declined admissions to ensure Employer policy execution and compliance with EMTALA.
    • Advocate:
      • Serve as an advocate for the organization.
    • Provide support, information, education, and services.
    • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities and meetings.
    • Take an active role in identifying new program development opportunities for patient care services and Employer.
    • Participate in community education of behavioral health issues.
    • Admissions Support:
      • Provide initial placement recommendations based on admitting criteria, clinical parameters, medical history, and documentation obtained through screenings.
    • Review and evaluate completed admission screenings to determine appropriate programs, levels of care, and modes of delivery.
    • Communicate professionally and accurately, refer to other departments and agencies as needed, and report pertinent data to attending providers and teams.
    • Prioritize effectively and consistently in situations requiring immediate attention versus postponement.
    • Immediately communicate difficult problems with referents and develop relationships with medical staff and providers across RBH for ongoing reviews or case communication.
    Physical/Mental Demands
    • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict.
    • Ability to use initiative and judgement to organize, plan activities, formulate policies, delegate responsibility, and make decisions affecting diagnosis and treatment of patients.
    • Must be able to relate to people in a manner to win their confidence and establish rapport.
    • Must be flexible to adjust to changing conditions, programs, and various details of the position.
    • Verbal and hearing ability required to interact with patients and employees. Numerical ability required to maintain records and operate a computer.
    • Must be able to read and communicate through written, verbal, and auditory skills and abilities.
    • Position requires walking, sitting, and standing. Work is performed inside the building and is physically light. Lifting is moderate; must be capable of lifting a minimum of 20 pounds.
    • Reaching, handling, grasping, and manual dexterity are necessary to operate various office equipment.
    • Physically/Mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, per post-employment Physical Exam requirement.
    Education/Training Requirements
    • Be licensed in the state of Wisconsin as an MD or DO with specialization in psychiatry.
    • Board-eligible physician. Board certification preferred.
    • Graduate of an accredited college or university and medical school.
    • Successful completion of a GME accredited residency and/or fellowship program, if working with children additional residency with this age group must have been obtained.
    • Previous work or moonlighting experience working as a psychiatrist in another licensed hospital, preferred.
    • Leadership and/or supervisory experience in a behavioral health organization is preferred.
    • Experience with process improvement implementation preferred.
