    We are seeking a Senior Engineer that is responsible for development of the control hardware and software of the electric driveline consisting of a set of electric motors and inverters mated to a multi-ratio geartrain integrated in an electric drive axle assembly. You will work closely with the motor, inverter, geartrain, axle and thermal management engineers within the Nikola Powertrain Engineering Team.

    In this role you will lead the following activities:
    Development of control strategy of the operations of the inverter/electric motors and the geartrain for performance, reliability and durability, efficiency, and thermal management/lubrication of the electric driveline system Design and validation of the control hardware components and parts as well as software and calibration for control of the electric driveline system Definition and requirements of interfaces and compatibility between control of electric driveline system and the rest of powertrain and other vehicle systems, such as thermal management and VCMYou will: Collaborate with Nikola cross-functional teams, suppliers, manufacturing, testing, and validation teams onthe complete life cycle of the electric driveline system through product launch, and implementation of lessons learned on subsequent products (cradle-to-cradle responsibility)

    Lead the development of the technical specifications of the electric driveline control system Develop and maintain the Design Failure Mode and Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) including the boundary and system diagrams of the electric driveline control system Develop and maintain the Design Validation Plan and Report (DVP&R) of electric driveline control system, including both in-house and supplier testing plans, and ensure sign-off tests are completed on schedule Troubleshoot and resolve all validation issues Support the Purchasing team in sourcing and RFQ activities Support vehicle launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical)You have:

    BSME or related degree (MSME Preferred) 5+ Years of experience with electric driveline control system development Good communications skills and a team player A strong knowledge of the first-principle physics in electrification of driveline Working knowledge of GD&T, APQP, VAVE and problem resolution (8D/5D, Ishikawa/fishbone diagrams, change management, etc.) Working knowledge of CAD (CATIA V5/V6 preferred)Candidates must have current U.S.

    work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.
