    M2X Energy is a provider of low carbon methanol from stranded methane gas sources. M2X is a well-funded, venture-backed company, established by Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

    Today M2X Energy is rethinking how fuels and chemicals are made to minimize wasteful gas flaring and reduce the associated environmental and social consequences.

    Role

    The Electrical Controls Engineer will lead development of electrical and controls systems for the automation of an economical gas-to-liquid synthesis system utilizing flare gas and other stranded gases.

    You will lead the development and integration of various electrical systems, including 480V motors/drives, high voltage and low voltage electric circuits, instrumentation, controllers, and associated enclosures.

    You will also develop control strategies for the next generation on-board PLC controller to enable remote health monitoring and control of the system.

    You will be a key member of the rapidly growing M2X technical team during a very exciting time in our company's history, as we continue development and begin manufacturing and deployment of our commercial product.

    This rapid development cycle will allow the successful Electrical Controls Engineer to lead many exciting projects and develop innovative solutions to any challenges encountered.

    Expectations are that this role will design all future electrical and control system architectures for our commercial unit and collaborate with both internal and external fabricators and suppliers to build the electrical and controls hardware.

    This role has significant career growth potential, as the role will continue to grow and evolve alongside the company itself.


    The Electrical Controls Engineer must work effectively as part of a team and represent M2X Energy well with partners and customers.

    The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical competence and proficiency in controls system fundamentals and application.

    The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a passion for developing new technologies to mitigate the worst effects of climate change.

    Required Qualifications
    BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines; 3.0 GPA or above.
    Knowledge of fundamentals of electric circuit design and power electronics.
    Demonstrated experience in design and implementation of control systems.
    Hands-on experience with practical electrical systems, including wiring and electrical system hardware installation and troubleshooting.
    Strong written and oral communication skills.
    3+ years of professional experience.

    Preferred Qualifications
    3.5 GPA or above.
    MS/PhD in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines.
    Track record of working in a team setting to develop and deliver controls solutions.
    5+ years of professional experience.
    Hands-on instrumentation/control/calibration experience including CAN communication, harness design, and new controller implementation.
    Experience in design and deployment of electrical and mechanical (mechatronics) systems, including motor drives and other power electronics.
    Experience with data acquisition and analysis.
    Experience leading and participating in team settings.
    Ability to enthusiastically work on novel, complex engineering projects with minimal oversight.
    Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and tackle new challenges.


    Salary:

    Pay:
    $85,000 – $125,000 per year

    Work Schedule:
    Monday to Friday

    Work Location:
    On-site in Welcome, North Carolina, on the Richard Childress Racing campus.

    Welcome is a beautiful rural setting in the piedmont area of North Carolina, with nearby urban areas including Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Charlotte.

    Together with the other members of the engineering team located in Rockledge, FL, periodic travel to other locations may be required to support system field testing and commercialization.
