    Overview

    Provide preoperative, circulating, and postoperative nursing at a fully accredited office-based surgery center in Portland, Oregon that focuses on aesthetic plastic surgery.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Perform thorough preoperative patient assessments

    Facilitate the efficient performance of surgery

    Provide postoperative care for patients recovering from general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care

    Educate the patient and family on discharge instructions and discharge patients after they meet criteria

    Contact patients prior to and after their surgical procedures

    Ensure proper documentation and patient charting

    Manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage of cases

    Communicate with front office team to optimize scheduling for both surgical and clinic procedures

    Document processes and procedures for quality control and safety

    Work with consulting agency on ensuring all staff credentialing is complete and up to date

    Perform quarterly peer reviews and submit to credentialing agency when complete

    Ensure bio-waste pickup, quality control of terminal cleaning, determine adequate supply of oxygen and compressed gas for surgery, monthly and annual fire extinguisher inspections and laundering of linens and staff scrubs

    Secondary Responsibilities

    Serve as backup for inventory and materials management as needed

    Serve as backup for sterile processing of instruments as needed

    Serve as a surgical technologist as needed

    Qualifications

    Licensed registered nurse (RN)

    Current licensure in good standing from the Oregon State Board of Nursing

    Minimum of 5 years of experience in preoperative and postoperative care

    Current ACLS certification

    Positive and effective written and oral communication skills

    Provide excellent customer service-oriented patient care

    Ability to make decisions confidently in critical situations

    Strong organizational skills to perform and prioritize multiple responsibilities seamlessly with exceptional attention to detail

    Physical Demands

    Require high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response to patient care assessment activities

    Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs and to stand for long periods

    Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds in order to assist in the transfer of patients post surgery if necessary
