    Summary This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command.

    Responsibilities As a TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST at the GS some of your typical work assignments may include:

    Serve as the JECC Transportation Specialist and subject matter expert for implementing operating procedures, reviewing and validating/evaluating all Joint Operation Planning and Execution System (JOPES) and MILAIR requirements.

    Make technical decisions and resolve controversial policy and procedures on matters involving deployment and related issues and manage JECC transportation and logistics requirements.

    Provide policy guidance to ensure that the transportation capability established is effective, timely, and responsive.

    Analyze and interpret DOD, USTRANSCOM and JECC regulations, directives, technical and doctrinal publications, policies, and instructions for development of short- and long-range deployment requirements.

    Develop and justify budget data for transportation logistics.

    Plan for transportation contingencies, analyze deployment plans/requirements and advise on feasibility and supportability of plans through validation of JOPES and MILAIR requirements.

    Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Analyze data, draw conclusions, and develop solutions.

    Prepare quantitative and narrative reports using analytical techniques. Manage and implement transportation and logistics processes, principles, and procedures.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

    Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
