    Registered Nurse Position Summary and Purpose: Primarily responsible for assisting the doctor in surgery cases, daily drug counts, monitor IV sedation, order all medications.

    Registered Nurse Responsibilities: Not to be considered all inclusive

    Registered Nurse Essential Functions:

    Patient Care:

    1. Health History

    2. Monitor vitals

    3. Start I.V.

    4. Observe during surgery – Patient assessment, physician assistance, rotate through surgical suites to observe and assist if needed.

    Daily Routines:

    1. Drug counts – in safe and tackle box – AM and PM

    2. Turn on 02/N20 tanks in AM and off in the PM

    3. Place anesthetics in rooms (locked drawer) and other anesthetics at Nursing Station (locked box)

    4. Syringe boxes – make up and place labeled syringes as needed in rooms

    5. Monitor and replace reversal drugs in rooms (Narcan, Romazicon, and accessory drugs)

    6. Check refrigerated meds & temperature daily.

    7. Call previous days patients

    8. Check defibrillator

    Nursing Calls:

    1. Medical clearance – coordinate and schedule

    2. Assist all personnel

    3. Answer calls from patients concerning care – return calls

    Office Nursing/Medical Supplies:

    1. Order all medications, i.e. antibiotics, steroids, sedation drugs and code cart supplies

    2. Coordinate all ordering with Nicholasville and Richmond offices nurses

    Code Cart Maintenance:

    1. Monthly drug check – Check expiration date – Reorder as indicated

    2. Emergency equipment – organize and keep updated – reorder as indicated

    3. Make up emergency kits

    4. Per current ACLS guidelines, update Code Cart

    5. Defibrillator – check/record daily

    6. Algorhythm emergency kits pre-made

    Miscellaneous Duties:

    1. Order syringe labels, consent forms, post-op materials, 02/N20

    2. Order and dispense employee TB skin tests yearly

    3. Schedule/coordinate ACLS & PALS every 2 years

    Registered Nurse Minimum Qualifications: Professionalism and service orientation towards patients and attention to detail are essential. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a hospital surgical setting working as a nurse.

    Education: State of KY RN license, CPR training credentials. Must have current ACLS certification.
