- Performing the required work in connection with the construction, maintenance, operation and service of electric distribution lines, protective equipment, substations and associated equipment owned and operated by the cooperative.
- Knowing the applicable portions of the National Electric Code, the National Electrical Safety Code and RUS specifications, and other regulatory and/or instructional guides in regard to line construction, service and maintenance while furthering the work team development and skill levels in accordance with established policies, procedures and plans.
- A class "A" CDL is preferred.
- A Journeyman Lineman position is preferred; however, an apprentice-in-training may be considered.
- Must be interested in providing superior service to our members and willing to develop in a position which involves increasing responsibilities under the supervision of the Line Superintendent and Director of Operations.
- Must be a high school graduate. Journeyman lineman applicants must prove their status by having successfully completed a certified journeyman lineman program.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of cooperative / RUS distribution line standards, principles and practices along with experience with a rural electric distribution system is preferred, but not mandatory.
- At least one year's experience as a fourth-year lineman or the equivalent and have satisfactorily performed the duties of fourth-year lineman or the equivalent, and demonstrated ability and skill in connecting overhead and underground equipment preferred.
- Must possess a thorough working knowledge of the functions of overhead and underground line equipment along with the use of "hot line" tools.
- Possess a working knowledge of the overhead and underground line circuits and their voltages within the system.
- Ability to pass the cooperative's physical qualification as this job calls for stringent physical requirements in the interest of safety, because the work demands a high degree of coordination, dexterity, endurance and strength.
- Must possess and demonstrate an attitude that is adaptable to conform to irritating situations when dealing with member/consumers on service and other problems and be a team player to positively promote the functionality of the cooperative workforce.
- Must represent the cooperative in a very professional manner and maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects.
- Must reside within or an approved proximity of our service territory (mainly Daviess, Martin and part of Lawrence County).
