    Description

    Clearance:
    TS/SCI (with Poly) Valiant is seeking an instructor for Metalworking and Fabrication TTI Support through instruction, development, and personnel feedback for mechanical training curriculum and courses
    The training disciplines include, but are not limited to, CNC machining, manual machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication
    The selected applicant is also responsible for mentoring staff outside of training courses
    This position requires sound judgment, interpersonal skills, and technical expertise


    • Highly motivated and skilled instructor with a demonstrated ability to train others in a machine shop environment
    • Must have a strong CAM and machining theory background
    • Demonstrated expertise in programming and operating CNC mills and lathes, preferably inclusive of 5-axis simultaneous milling operations and turning center work
    • Should have experience with CAD software
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Provide hands-on instruction and continuity to include, but not limited to, the following mechanical tradecraft skillsets:
    • Safety procedures for working in a machine shop and proper use of safety equipment
    • Read, write, and troubleshoot G-code, and generate toolpaths from a CAD model using CAM software
    • Use CAD software to design parametric models of parts and assemblies that are functional and fully machinable
    • Use and maintain common machine shop equipment such as engine lathe, CNC lathe, vertical CNC mills, manual mills, water jet, wire EDM, bench grinder, sander/deburr machine, drill press, horizontal or vertical band saws, etc
    • Operate, adjust, and maintain machine shop hand tools
    • Weld steel and aluminum using TIG, MIG, and other welding techniques
    • Design and fabricate bent sheet metal parts using CNC or finger brakes
    • Anodizing, powder coating, and other protective coatings
    • Mentorship and technical guidance to students during project exercises

    Skillsets listed below are desired, but forward-leaning applicants willing to grow and develop in these areas are encouraged to apply


    • Ability to obtain SolidWorks Professional Certification within 6 months
    • Formal experience in adult education to include course and curriculum development, lesson planning, and student and course evaluation
    • Professional interest in the future of manufacturing and emerging technologies
