    General job duties. Types of procedures required. 2E Onc is a 24 bed, all private room unit serving the oncology patient population. Patients are admitted to receive chemotherapy, and care after chemotherapy, radiaiton or surgical intervention. Patients also receive frequent blood transfusions. Patients may also require care of chest tubes, drains and dressings. The unit also receives medical overflow patients.

    Patients have pain medication regimen and can have PCAs or narcotic drips for pain control along with IV push medications.

    We are a fast paced unit serving adult to geriatric patients. Oncology, general med surg overflow, comfort care patients2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.) Pyxis, Omnicell and Nurses servers are used for medication dispensing and supplies Electronic Health Record
    • Cerner System and use of bedside bar code administration Management of central lines, infusaports and drain tubes 3.
    Required skills and minimum years of experience.

    Prefer 1 year of med-surg nursing; chemo certified is preferred Must have experience administering chemo and antineoplatisic drugs Should be comfortable working with LPN and team nursing on night shift OK with first time travelers4.

    Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required.

    (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) Current IL license required as well as BLS; BLS, Chemo administration cert through ONS is HIGHLY PREFERRED on days and required on nights 5.

    Shift or schedule requirements.

    (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?) Shifts are and Every other weekend rotation is expected.

    No on call requirements Employee will always work with a team of nurses, patient care technicians, and a unit secretary 6.

    Floating to other units/departments.

    (If so, to which units/departments?) Will need to be flexible to float first, then based on hospital needs would float to other general med-surg units based on hospital needs and individual competency.

    7. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept. 24 all private rooms, 8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit.

    (nursing only) 1 to 6 on days and 1 to 6-7 with LPN's helping on night shift utilizing team nursing9.
