    Job Title: Associate Buyer at The Container Store

    The Associate Buyer role involves leading the product assortment selection process, managing inventories, and implementing merchandising directives for all store locations and the online store. Collaborating with the Buyer and Merchandise Planner is essential for ensuring timely product delivery to boost sales and gross margin.

    • Identify vendors and curate an assortment of storage products that reflect the brand and set The Container Store apart as experts in storage solutions.
    • Establish and nurture mutually beneficial vendor relationships, negotiating optimal pricing and terms.
    • Conduct vendor meetings alongside the Buyer, conveying The Container Store's processes and values, and aligning with company interests.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, interact with vendors to anticipate future trends, and devise merchandising strategies to stay competitive.
    • Analyze product performance, customer feedback, and sales trends to shape future product assortments.
    • Evaluate competitor pricing and ensure The Container Store's products are competitively positioned.
    • Train and develop the Assistant Buyer in collaboration with the Buyer.
    • Coordinate with the Merchandise Planner and Visual Sales team to craft strategic product placements driving sales.
    • Maintain SKU and vendor data in the Merchandise Management System (MMS).
    • Communicate effectively with internal departments to support the launch of new products or collections.

    • College degree required
    • Retail industry experience preferred
    • 3+ years in buying, merchandising, or design
    • Located in Dallas/Ft. Worth area with a hybrid schedule
    • Occasional travel required based on business needs
    • Proficient in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
    • Knowledge of retail math, merchandising terminology, and supply chain fundamentals
    • Passionate about consumer products and home decor
    • Strong design sense and ability to embody The Container Store brand
    • Excellent leadership, analytical, and management abilities
    • Minimum age requirement of 18
