Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Responsibilities: Under direction of the Building Principal and Licensed School Nurse (LSN), the Health Secretary provides assistance in tending to the health needs of the students in the school building. Specific tasks are including but not limited to administering first aid, taking temperatures, administering prescribed medications, and keeping accurate records. The Health Secretary may rotate into other office professional positions in the building as needed.
Qualifications: Must have the ability to efficiently organize, prioritize, coordinate and process a variety of tasks in a detail oriented and accurate manner. Must have experience with a broad range of computer programs, including input, retrieval, and manipulation of data spreadsheets, word processing, and database systems. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with staff and members of the public with sensitivity and tact. Must have a demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies in a positive manner and the ability to work independently and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Versatility and an ability to adapt to changing priorities is required. Must have previously completed training in both cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and a basic first aid program (Red Cross). Must demonstrate sound judgment, ability to stay calm in emergency situations, and be willing to accept nursing supervision. Must be willing to be trained in medication administration, medical procedures, and various health screening procedures.
