Job Opportunity: Fisheries Technician Internship

The US Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking two highly motivated individuals for fisheries technician internships at the Mid-Columbia Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office located in Yakima, Washington. The interns will work as a part of a team to support research and monitoring efforts for various fishery-related projects conducted at rivers and dams in the Yakima Basin.

**Key Responsibilities:**

This field-intensive position involves working long hours in inclement weather while walking on uneven, slippery terrain in or around cold swift-flowing water where an ability to swim and comfort with wading are mandatory.
Sometimes, you may be required to ride motorboats or operate inflatable kayaks while wearing life jackets.
Nighttime work or backpacking may also be necessary for studies far from nearby roads.

The ideal candidate should possess strong swimming skills, ability to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds over extended periods, teamwork spirit, self-motivation, excellent record-keeping abilities, valid driver’s license with reliable transportation means required because frequent travel between locations might become inevitable throughout this assignment.
