    Description
    Job Summary

    Providing clearly defined Computed Tomographic (CT) studies for use by the Radiologist in the diagnosis of patient illness.

    Responsibilities


    • Perform CT procedures at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
    • Perform variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative for the Radiologists CT diagnosis.
    • Obtain the patient's medical history relevant to CT exam.
    • Transfer and position patients, providing immobilization devices as required before injection. Prepare and administer contrast media to ensure quality CT studies.
    • Responsible for ensuring that consent for contrast media is available before injection. Prepare and administer contrast media to patients.
    • Operate equipment for quality CT scans, providing protection in accordance with prescribed standards. Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the CT Scanner.
    • Process film in a timely and effective manner. Responsible for documenting records.
    • Develop a plan of care to meet the diagnostic needs of the patient and coordinates procedures, which requires communication with other departments, nursing units, physicians, and visitors.
    • Assist the Radiologist with certain examinations. Prepare and administer radio opaque contract for certain types of examinations.
    • Practice sterile techniques. Ensure order and cleanliness in assigned work areas, reporting any unsafe conditions.
    • Instruct student technologists in clinical training. Demonstrate the operation of the CT equipment to student technologists, demonstrating and explaining examinations.
    • Provide radiation education and safety to patients, visitors, physicians, and other staff.
    • Handle equipment service and preventative maintenance directly with the service company.
    • Attend meetings and seminars to maintain current knowledge and skills.

    Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

    Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

    7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.
