    Cost Accountant

    We are seeking to add a hands-on accounting professional to lead upcoming initiatives in our Accounting department. Our ideal candidate is driven, passionate, and loves a good challenge. You would be responsible for reviewing our cost processes, providing recommendations of and implementing cost process improvements, and supporting cost accounting initiatives. You would be working alongside an entrepreneurial team of other talented self-starters and innovators.     Company Description:

    We are a leading provider of wireless, mesh-networked, "Internet of Things" (IoT) sensors for industrial environments. Our cost-effective, plug-and-play products empower businesses and plants of all sizes to conduct predictive and preventative maintenance on mission-critical and secondary equipment in order to maximize uptime.

    Logistics:

    Location: Covington, KY (must reside locally or be willing to relocate to)

    Travel: No travel

    Job Description:

    This position will give you the opportunity to -

    • Ensure accurate records and documentation for costs of materials, finished goods, labor and services, project expenses, and overhead.
    • Utilize ERP systems to effectively manage and analyze data.
    • Compile and present profitability reports by project, revenue stream, product line, customer, and sales channel.
    • Assist with internal audit and time studies to validate routing activities and BOM accuracy.
    • Implement and monitor cost control measures to optimize operational efficiency.
    • Perform standard cost rolls and provide analysis of inventory impact.
    • Control scrap inventory process and validate disposition cost.
    • Conduct analysis on PPV, revaluation, scrap, and yield variances.
    • Provide explanations and recommend corrective actions to resolve cost discrepancies.
    • Participate in annual physical inventories and guide periodic cycle counts.
    • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and operational efficiency within the business process.
    • Perform month-end closing activities including account reconciliations and posting related journal entries.
    • Prepare manufacturing cost estimates for new products, as well as ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
    • Perform other duties that are needed to support the accounting department.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education.
    • 3+ years experience in accounting preferred
    • Recent work experience assisting with cost processes required.
    • Strong MS Office skill set, especially Excel.
    • Experience with NetSuite ERP is a bonus
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
    • Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
    • Attention to detail while working on multiple tasks.
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
    • Ability to work with tight deadlines.
    • Desire for a fast-paced, dynamic, and quickly growing work environment.
