    U. S. Steel is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace culture and celebrate the diversity of our employees. The safety coordinator will monitor operations to predict, observe and eliminate hazardous conditions and activities.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and "where applicable" ResponsibleSteel
    2. requirements are followed.
    3. Advising on provisions to minimize safety risks
    4. Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans
    5. Organize and conduct safety training plans
    6. Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
    7. Intervene in unsafe activities or operations, coaching and mentoring those involved to eliminate unacceptable risks
    8. Procure first aid and medical treatment as needed for injured workers
    9. Investigate incidents collaborating with managers and supervisors determining root cause and improvements
    10. Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and specific training programs
    11. Complete special projects as assigned
    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    2. In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines and practices
    3. Experience in reporting and developing policies
    4. Strong verbal, written and analytical skills
    5. Competent in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
    6. Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping with various tasks as required
    Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
    This position occasionally requires employee to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Supervisory Responsibility:
    This position does not supervise others.
