    Title: Career Transition Readiness Specialist
    Reports to: Counseling Manager

    Position Description

    Position Overview: Full-time. Prepares students for successful transition to the workforce.

    Essential Functions:

    • Assesses and documents each graduating student's transitional needs at least 6 weeks prior to termination: housing, transportation, child care, work clothing, tools, food, nutrition and budgeting.
    • Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom/training environment, ensuring maximum student motivation and outcomes: records daily attendance, designs instruction to meet individual student needs, maintains a high degree of discipline within the training area, submits necessary schedule change information.
    • Designs curriculum within Job Corps guidelines to ensure students' transitional needs are met: ensures students have a updated resume, coaches graduates on interviewing skills and job search strategies, provides referrals to and registers all assigned students with one-stops, JTPA, and state employment agencies.
    • Has an accurate syllabus for the course and completes lesson plans as required. Identifies appropriate materials.
    • Schedules field trips, guest speakers, workshops and other special projects to augment training.
    • Uses Labor Market Information and other resources to develop services and placement support strategies tailored to meet the needs and qualifications of each individual graduate.
    • Submits ESPs in a timely manner.
    • Update student PCDP with transitional need information. Maintains files and logs that contain transition information.
    • Documents student's progress in case notes.
    • Ensures that all equipment assigned to the classroom is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition.
    • Participates in Career Mentoring Team.
    • Provide support to the Career Development Services System (CDSS) department to ensure student job readiness.
    • All other duties assigned.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Associate's Degree required, preferably in Social Sciences or related field

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Teaching certification in the state in which the Center is located with K-12 endorsements
    • One year of teaching experience.

    Minimum Eligibility Qualifications:


    • If the position requires driving, a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an

    acceptable driving record is required


    • 1-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States


    • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
