- Prepare accurate and consistent cost estimates for the following: new products, new business, engineering changes, and supplier changes. This includes global estimate requirements when necessary.
- Support account managers in cost variances.
- Support account managers in customer cost breakdowns.
- Support account managers in CAP3 preparation.
- Review and interpret blueprints.
- Review and understand plant processes.
- Review process, tooling, and capital equipment assumptions with plant and manufacturing engineering.
- Requires decision of consequence.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Experience in cost estimating, industrial engineering, and/or manufacturing.
- Expected to coordinate cross-functionally and be an effective communicator.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical ability.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Must possess the ability to set goals, meet deadlines, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of financials associated with cost estimating and business case preparation.
- Drafting and blueprint reading classes.
- At least 4 years of experience in cost estimating or a related field.
- Four year degree in Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Drafting and blueprint reading classes preferred.
- Valid drivers' license
- Valid passport
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Must be able to travel internationally without restrictions
- This position can be located at our Corporate office in Auburn Hills, MI or our office in Reynosa, MX
- Occasionally lifts and / or carries up to 15 pounds.
- Maneuvers in, around and under factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
- Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting and bending.
- Works within an automotive components manufacturing office setting and may be exposed to heat, cold and fumes/chemicals

Description
Position Summary:Responsible for preparing accurate and consistent estimates in compliance with established engineering and cost estimating procedures and methodologies.Compiles estimates of cost standard and special parts or products as a basis for pricing purposes.Responsible for analyzing specifications including sketches, blueprints, bills of material or sample layouts, and calculating production costs for material, labor, tooling and capital equipment.Will participate in design reviews.Prepares and maintains historical cost data.Creates complex cost models for cost estimating elements.
