    CITY OF RICHMOND HEIGHTS

    POSITION TITLE: Recreational Aide - Fitness Part-Time

    REPORTS TO: Recreation Assistant, Supervisor, and Manager

    FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

    POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing the fitness areas with a focus on providing orientations for adults and youth, assisting with fitness-related inquiries, monitoring participants during workouts, maintaining cleanliness of the fitness center and equipment, and other duties as assigned by the on-duty supervisor.

    FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
    Essential Functions:
    - Enforce facility rules and emergency procedures
    - Perform opening and closing procedures efficiently
    - Collaborate effectively with individuals of all ages and abilities
    - Demonstrate good communication skills
    - Deliver customer service professionally to the public
    - Manage multiple tasks efficiently
    - Ensure cleanliness and organization of fitness area and equipment
    - Communicate relevant information to the supervisor
    - Attend staff meetings and required training
    - Assist with recreation programs as necessary

    Marginal Functions:
    - Complete special projects assigned by the supervisor
    - Support other departments for city-wide activities

    Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:
    - Sitting, talking, hearing, walking
    - Concentrated mental and visual attention with normal hand-eye coordination
    - Clarity of vision at 20 inches, corrected or uncorrected
    - Occasional lifting of items weighing 1 to 85 lbs

    Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:
    Normal indoor conditions

    POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
    Education: High school diploma or equivalent with knowledge of physical education, health, anatomy, and exercise physiology. Some college education preferred.

    Experience: One year of cumulative fitness experience preferred, such as a student athlete or fitness center attendant.

    Skills and Abilities:
    - Provide guidance and direction for fitness users
    - Conduct effective orientations for fitness center users
    - Maintain professional appearance and behavior
    - Collaborate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and the public
    - Adapt to new techniques and tasks
    - Perform well under stress
    - Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
    - Effective oral and written communication skills

    Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids:
    Personal computer, office equipment, fitness equipment, general cleaning equipment

    License(s)/Certification(s) Required: CPR, AED & First Aid
