    System Technician I
    The Secaucus Board of Education invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the position of System Technician I.
    JOB DUTIES:
    Supports the Lead Systems Admin in ensuring that district staff and students have safe, modern, continuous access to the internet, digital devices, applications, and information to support a Future Ready District. Participates in the installation and maintenance of computer networks, systems, and VoIP telephony for the district. Installs, manages, and/or provides technical support for audio-visual, security, and surveillance equipment. Maintains the inventory and manages the distribution, maintenance, and collection of staff, classroom, and 1:1 student Chromebooks. Deploys, installs, maintains, and repairs classroom and end-user devices. Provides end-user support for help desk issues.
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    Assists Lead Systems Admin in day-to-day operations, including:
    • end-user support, including one-on-one training and provision of FAQs
    • data center and network/Wi-Fi operations monitoring and maintenance
    • internet access, firewall, and filter monitoring and maintenance
    • user account, access rights, and device policy management
    • VoIP telephone services
    • print service configuration and maintenance
    • district cellular device management
    • security and surveillance systems configuration and operation
    • audio-visual services
    • management of all district technology assets
    • 1:1 Chromebook insurance, asset and issue management, and application deployment
    Assists Lead Systems Admin to install and/or configure:
    • server hardware with and without virtual machines
      • internet, LAN, Wi-Fi, server, and device security
      • the district network and all network infrastructure devices
      • Google G-Suite administration and policies
      • Active Directory administration and policies
      • surveillance and security systems
      • 1:1 student Chromebooks, tracking and filtering
      • all end-user hardware and software, including classroom peripherals
      • VoIP telephony
      • print services
      • network and data center monitoring tools
    • Provides support to staff in the use of devices (Chromebooks, PCs, etc.), applications, and peripherals (displays, printers, etc.).
    • Controls the inventory, distribution, repair, and collection of staff, classroom, and 1:1 Chromebooks.
    • Provides audio/video support for the Performing Art Center
    • Participates in incident and disaster response IT team
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Educational Technology
    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
    • Basic working knowledge of:
    • Google G-Suite and Admin Console
    • Microsoft Windows Workstation and Server, Hyper-V, and Active Directory
    • VoIP Telephony
    • Cisco networks
    • Linux administration
    • Audio-Visual Equipment, including Lighting and Mixing Boards
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Effective writing and presentation skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively and patiently in stressful situations
    • CCNA desirable
    • Programming experience with Linux Shell and Windows Scripting, Python, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, APIs, and/or SQL desirable
    • A B.S. degree in Information Technology or a related field is desirable
