    About Valur

At Valur, we are on a mission to help our customers identify and act on the innovative tax-planning strategies that are our core product. Just like Roman Health and Hims have productized regulated healthcare processes to make them more available to all, we are building a system to streamline the tax planning tools of the ultra-rich to make them affordable and accessible to everyone. We started with irrevocable trusts for startup founders and employees, validating that the markets wants a smart, simple, tech-forward approach to what used to be complex, lawyer-led processes. We built on that early momentum to develop several other high-value financial products, unlocking tax savings across every income level and asset class.

The proof is in the results: We have scaled quickly to mid-7-figure annual revenue, and we now manage more than $1 billion of assets through direct-to-consumer engagement and partnership with some of the top investment advisory firms in the business. Given that traction, we have raised money from a group of top early-stage investors, including Box Group, Canaan, BasisSet, and notable angels.

    About the Role

Our engineering team's goal is to build a platform that is accessible to both customers with no experience in complex financial planning and financial advisors who do this for a living. The right candidate for this role will be a generalist engineer who can partner with the product team to identify problems and solve product, design, and technical challenges. We aim to test new ideas quickly while also further building on the tools that have been working very well so far to build a product that delights our users. We believe in high agency and ownership; we prize proactive team members who see a problem and come to the group with a solution and a plan to implement it.

We are a team of generalists and are looking for someone who is comfortable building across the stack, working with product, design, and operations to understand product requirements and ship a full feature end to end. While fintech experience isn't required, having an understanding of or enthusiasm to learn complex financial and tax products is a huge plus.

Our ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our existing platform and will have the opportunity to contribute to its growth by enhancing our tools. With our rapid growth and top-tier funding, joining our engineering team means becoming a part of a dynamic and forward-thinking company at the forefront of the industry. Furthermore, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate on ongoing AI projects and provide valuable assistance with infrastructure management and migration.

    You will

  • Be involved in all stages of product development, owning everything from building frontend components to database design and everything in between, with a particular focus on the user interface.
  • Collaborate with the product and strategy teams to determine the best solutions for development, propose technical solutions, gain consensus for initiatives, implement those proposals, test the solutions, deploy them into production, and provide ongoing support as users engage.
  • Build new tax-planning products, ranging from customer-oriented, gamified education experiences to real-time asset tracking and trust management tools to advisor relationship-management systems.
  • Build out our nascent AI customer service tools, including custom LLMs, automated decision engine, and more.
  • Help automate manual operations processes to scale our products to thousands of customers.

    Qualifications

We are seeking engineers who have a track record of delivering value. The ideal candidate has successfully implemented important features and is eager to continue delivering more. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new features, enhancing existing code, and collaborating with a team of highly motivated individuals. You are independent and adept at solving complex problems, and you have a strong desire to delve into the world of fintech. You thrive in an iterative development environment and continuously strive to improve the quality of the code.
