    Aging and People with Disabilities (APD), part of the Oregon Department of Human Services, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual for Eligibility Workers/Human Services Specialist 3's in the Beaverton office.

    YOUR DUTIES AT A GLANCE:

    In this position, you will:

    • Determine financial eligibility for Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) programs, including but not limited to, Medicaid/Medical Assistance Programs, Supplemental Assistance Program (SNAP), Employment Related Day Care (ERDC), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
    • Processes applications that are new and re-certifying by reviewing the applicant's financial and non-financial situations.
    • Determine eligibility correctly and in a timely manner by following complex rules and policies which includes gathering appropriate documentation for the electronic case file.
    • Refer applicants with additional needs to appropriate agencies.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • The Eligibility Workers will conduct 95% of work at their designated workstation. There will be occasional need for travel and field work that may involve going into a consumer's home. A valid driver's license is required or an acceptable form of transportation. An acceptable driving record is also required.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS(MQ's):

    • Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines applicable to the client's situation. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience relative to the class concept.

    ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:

    • Calm, clear, professional communication skills to ensure quality service daily by telephone, in writing or in person for internal and external customers.
    • Using skills to gather information from customers for assistance with programs and/or services.
    • Experience working in multiple software programs
    • Experience interpreting, explaining, and implementing policy and procedures
