    Role
    Cape's platform gives customers end-to-end control of their digital identity, optimizing for resiliency, privacy, and security at every turn. We're transforming how customers sign up, use, and think about their mobile phones and the privacy implications associated with it. Customers are protected at every level of the communications stack - from the mobile device, through infrastructure, and to the core of the network itself.
    As an iOS Software Engineer at Cape, your mission is to build the definitive application for private mobile communication. We don't just whitelabel an application and do the bare minimum for onboarding and collecting payment. The mobile application is the interface where users build trust with Cape and protect their digital lives. You will own the entire feature lifecycle-from architectural design to App Store launch-using Swift and SwiftUI to solve some of the hardest technical challenges in security and cryptography in order to secure personal information (PII), account data, and even voice & SMS traffic. In our tight-knit engineering team, you won't just build features; you will ship the product that makes our promise of privacy a reality.
    Your day-to-day will change, but everything you work on has a high impact. One day you could be pushing to deliver a new capability to prevent targeting of soldiers on the battlefield, the next you could be architecting a new system to prevent financial fraud via SIM swaps for everyday citizens.
    Core Responsibilities
    • Take ownership of the mobile product lifecycle, from conceptualization, through design & development, all the way to launch.
    • Maintain high coding standards through the development of guidelines, active participation in code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing among your team.
    • Champion the security, performance, and stability of our applications. You will implement and oversee robust testing, monitoring, and release processes to guarantee a seamless and trustworthy user experience.
    • Actively improve user workflows by collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless experiences across product boundaries and a cohesive user experience.

    • Understanding of cryptographic systems and how to design privacy conscious solutions.
    • Ability to learn new technology and concepts, even without in-depth experience.
    • Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance is beneficial, but not necessary.
    Core Qualifications
    • 1+ years of iOS software development experience.
    • Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or similar field.
    • Proficiency in Swift and a strong foundational understanding of the iOS ecosystem (Architecture, App Lifecycle, etc.).
    • Professional experience with SwiftUI and a deep appreciation for building modern, declarative user interfaces.
    • Experience with Swift Concurrency (async/await) for building responsive, performant applications.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to iterate quickly with teammates, incorporating feedback and holding a high bar for quality.
    Bonus Points
    • Experience with Android (Kotlin) development.
    • Familiarity with frameworks like Combine or Core Data.
    • Hands-on experience with the end-to-end App Store release process.
    • Knowledge of cryptography, secure enclave, or cellular technologies (eSIM, 4G, 5G).
