- Represents MSU Denver at off -campus recruitment opportunities including college fairs, workshops, and community events.
- Manages a local and national recruitment territory by maintaining a regular visitation schedule to high schools in assigned regions.
- Conducts directed follow-up activities and communications for targeted prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted students via email, text, mail, phone, and CRM system.
- Assists with execution of on-campus recruitment related events such as campus visits, group tours and bi-institutional events, and open house. This can entail presenting to large audiences and providing general support for the events.
- Facilitates student application and admission by working closely with various MSU Denver student services programs and academic offices.
- Exercises professional judgment to interpret University policies to advise prospective and new students about admission procedures, transfer of credits, University policies, the financial aid process, scholarships, program requirements, registration, tuition classification, and available student support services.
- Provides on-site admission counseling and educational planning to prospective students. Activities include but are not limited to: academic planning, college application process, college essay and resume writing, financial aid and scholarship application processes, and academic goal setting.
- Collaborate with Pathways to Possible Student Success coaches to recruit students to the Pathways to Possible program.
- Assists with program coordination with an emphasis on serving diverse, underrepresented students, including students of color, and utilizes data for program evaluation and planning.
- Assists with the creation of marketing materials and program communications.
- Reads and evaluates completed application files and determines admission decisions.
- Represents the Office of Admissions on internal and external committees and organizations related to the recruitment and admission of students.
- Upholds and interprets the standards of ethical practice in university admissions to assist with broad recruitment activities. Assists in preparing surveys and questionnaires distributed by the Office of Admissions to determine our programs and services' effectiveness.

- At least one year's experience working or volunteering with high school-aged youth in an academic or college-preparatory capacity. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in pre-collegiate program planning, college recruiting, admission, or related field.
- Experience working or volunteering with diverse, underrepresented populations.
- A valid driver's license and dependable transportation, due to required frequent travel for recruiting activities.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Master's degree in higher education, counseling, social work, or human services.
- At least two years' experience working or volunteering with high school-aged youth in an academic or college-preparatory capacity. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in pre-collegiate program planning, college recruiting, admission, or related field.
- Experience in outreach and recruitment efforts of underrepresented students including students of color.
- Experience using a Student Information System database or Customer Relationship Management system.
- Experience giving presentations to large groups.
- Experience providing high quality customer service through face-to-face interactions with clients, customers, or students.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (speaking and writing).
- 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Extensive weekend and evening work is required during the fall and spring semesters. <15% Overnight travel.

Additionally, Student Affairs has committed to tying our salaries to an understanding of a living wage. To that end, we will not pay less than $46,300.

Position Summary
Join an Office of Admissions team that is enthusiastic about promoting access to higher education by supporting prospective and incoming Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners. The Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible is a member of the recruitment team within the Office of Admissions and contributes to the MSU Denver Mission to provide a high-quality, accessible, enriching education that prepares students for successful careers, post-graduate education and lifelong learning in a multicultural, global and technological society.
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of High School Outreach and Recruitment, the Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible shares broad recruitment and enrollment responsibilities with other members of the Office of Admissions. This position is a key player in the recruitment and outreach efforts of the university and provides counseling to prospective students, applicants, and admitted students to assist the university in meeting enrollment goals. The Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible is a part of the College Access team within the High School Outreach team in the Office of Admissions.
The College Access Team is dedicated to implementing meaningful and equitable engagement opportunities for students from historically underserved backgrounds to learn about and begin identifying with a college education. By embedding Counselors in underserved communities, the Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible will facilitate programming for underserved students and families, including Hispanic/Latinx, Black, Indigenous, and other students of color, along with low income and first-generation students who may not otherwise have considered pursuing college after high school.

The Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible is a temporary, award funded position with funding secured until August/September 2025, and intent to secure additional funding. The continuation of this position will depend on if additional funding can be secured.
