    POSITION TITLE:
    Behavior Specialist


    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The Behavior Specialist will collaborate in the coordination and operation of the district's Behavioral services, and to train and supervise other personnel in the utilization and participation in such service so that all students enrolled in the program may be brought as fully as possible to the level of functioning of which they are capable.


    CLASSIFICATION:
    Fair Labor Standards Act Exempt


    REPORTS TO:
    Director of Special Education and Building Principals


    EVALUATION:
    Will be evaluated on a yearly basis by the Director of Special Education


    SUPERVISES:
    Behavioral Interventionists


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Masters Degree in Behavior related field
    • Board Certified Behavioral Analysis preferred
    • Training and experience in provision of school-based Behavioral services.
    • Experience working with children with Behavioral Disorders.
    • Familiarity with inclusive education strategies.
    • Qualified to conduct appropriate screenings and assessments.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Collaborates with special education case managers, speech language pathologist, early childhood education specialist, classroom teachers and instructional support teams in early identification, assessment and intervention planning for students with Behavioral concerns.
    • Provides training, consultation and assistance to school personnel including but not limited to classroom teachers, special education teachers, support staff and SLPs.
    • Conducts Functional Behavioral Assessments.
    • Coordinates with instructional support teams to develop behavioral supports in an individualized education program for students.
    • Regularly participates in district meetings and in-service projects, skills/resources networking with other personnel and additional professional development opportunities as appropriate.
    • Record keeping, communications, procedural safeguards, and all other federal, state and district policies and regulations applicable.
    • Will keep updated on the latest research and best practices in the field of Behavior Planning and Management
    • Will consult with special educators, speech language pathologist and classroom teachers
    • Design system of behavioral supports for schools K-8
    • Performs other appropriate assignments as directed by the Director of Special Education or Superintendent of Schools.
