Department:

The College of Public Health (CPH) molds students to lead in enhancing public health through academic excellence, impactful research, community outreach, and inter-professional clinical practice. The College has more than 1,900 undergraduate and 1,300 graduate students enrolled in its renowned programs.

CPH Development plays a vital role in actively managing fundraising efforts that sustain the College and foster success for students, faculty, and staff.

About the Role:
The Development Operations Manager will assist in organizing the daily operations of the development office and provide administrative assistance to the Sr. Director of Development. Responsibilities include overseeing various special events such as alumni engagement activities, educational panels, and donor cultivation events.

The Manager will supervise the donor stewardship process, handle correspondence, manage gift processing and documentation, update donor activities in the PatriotForce database, and track and report using Microstrategy.

The role involves managing all development aspects of the CPH student scholarship program and collaborating with CPH's Finance and Office of Student Affairs for donor communications and related activities for the scholarship program.

The role may require working some evening and weekend hours for events.

Responsibilities:

Development Activities:
Provide administrative support to the Sr. Director of Development;

Collaborate with development staff and faculty on alumni engagement events & projects and college activities;

Handle and coordinate department financial reporting & reconciliations;

Serve as the primary point of contact for the development department and address inquiries & questions;

Maintain student scholarship programs; and

Manage the department's stewardship plan.

Events & Special Projects:
Engage with CPH donors, volunteers, and colleagues;

Plan and execute CPH events, including Alumni Weekend, Networking events, educational symposiums, scholarship receptions, homecoming, and college celebrations;

Create bio profiles for key attendees and share with senior CPH faculty and volunteer leaders before events;

Develop and follow an event(s) timeline with goals, benchmarks, results, and deadlines; and

Using Mason's Anthology software, coordinate the production of invitations, manage rsvp's of guest lists, and all communications with attendees before and after events.

Stewardship:
Create an executive stewardship plan for CPH donors with innovative ways to boost engagement and support;

Ensure donors and alumni participate in University-wide stewardship events;

Invite donors and student recipients to the University Scholarship Breakfast; and

Express gratitude to all donors promptly.

Administrative/Communications:
Help with committee schedules & meetings, minutes/reminders;

Handle financial reports for the department (P-card, reconciliation);

Manage day-to-day office operations (e.g., ordering supplies, IT requests); and

Coordinate with Advancement offices the distribution of development messages for:

Alumni e-newsletter;

Donor communications;

Student scholarship/award recipients;

Dean & faculty talking points.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience;

Demonstrated experience creating and executing fundraising strategies;

Demonstrated success in handling multiple projects simultaneously;

Demonstrated success in organizing events;

Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of alumni, faculty, staff, donors, students, and colleagues across the university;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Demonstrated interpersonal skills;

Ability to proactively take charge and work autonomously;

Capability to manage confidential matters with discretion; and

Attention to detail and completion; and

Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in higher education;

Prior development & event experience;

Experience in fundraising for higher education or non-profit organizations; and

Administrative background.
