ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Janitor is responsible for the following:

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash and take all trash to appropriate dumpsters.
• Launder rags.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean windows, dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Mix water and detergents in appropriate containers to prepare cleaning solutions according

to specifications.

• Steam clean or shampoo carpets, strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Drive vehicles to required locations to perform cleaning duties.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to

prevent damage to floors, building walls, and grounds.

• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Notify managers concerning the need for equipment and building repairs.
• Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using tractor plow,

snow blowers, snow shovels, ice chippers, and spread snow melting chemicals.

• Set up, arrange and remove decorations, tables, chairs and ladders to prepare facilities for

events such as meetings and other work events.

• Other duties as assigned by the Lead (Building Maintenance).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must be a high school graduate


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have good oral, written and organizational skills.
