- Safely operate sandblasting equipment (e.g., open blasting booths, wheelabrator, tumble blasting) to remove rust, old coatings, contaminants, and surface imperfections.
- Prepare, stage, and position parts for blasting, painting, or coating processes.
- Select appropriate abrasives and set equipment to achieve specified surface finishes..
- Maintain and clean blasting equipment, work areas, and collection/recovery systems.
- Follow all safety protocols, use proper PPE, and adhere to company and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with paint/coating teams to coordinate workflow and maintain production schedules.
- Properly handle, dispose, and recycle blasting media and materials according to regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Prior experience in sandblasting, surface preparation, industrial finishing, or related metalworking fields preferred.
- Ability to operate industrial sandblasting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and quality control.
- Comfortable with physically demanding work, including lifting, standing, and moving parts.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Position Summary
The Sandblast Operator is responsible for safely preparing, blasting, and cleaning metal and other surfaces to meet coating and finishing specifications. We are looking for someone with at least 1-2 years industrial experience, and can sandblast at a fast rate as the amount per square feet blasted will be monitored to ensure we have the right person for the job. Maintaining quality with efficiency and speed is CRUCIAL. Looking for someone long-term who fits right in and enjoys this kind of work as this is a temp-to-hire position non-qualifying candidates need not apply.
Key Responsibilities
• Monday-Friday 7:30am start time (full-time)
• Located near the University of Portland
• $22 an hour starting, $25 after 90 days
