    Position Overview:

    The Custodian/Bus Driver will operate under the general direction of the Senior Director of Facilities and Transportation. As a Custodian/Bus Driver you play a crucial role in shaping a positive experience for the children at the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Plain. Your commitment to maintaining clean facilities and ensuring safe transportation directly influences the well-being and comfort of our youth members. By creating a welcoming environment, you contribute to a space where kids can learn, play, and thrive. Your role as a bus driver goes beyond transportation it adds to the overall positive atmosphere, making their time at the Boys & Girls Club memorable and impactful.     Responsibilities And Duties:

    Clean and maintain facilities, including floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and windows.

    Dispose of garbage and trash in accordance with organizational guidelines.

    Set up and arrange furniture and furnishings as needed for program activities.

    Aid youth, program staff, and other employees as assigned by the supervisor.

    Assist in building maintenance tasks, such as replacing window glass, cleaning gutters, and repairing furniture.

    Transport program supplies and equipment as required by program staff and the program director.

    Operate heating, lighting, ventilation, and electrical controls as specified.

    Perform routine lubrication services and minor preventive maintenance.

    Conduct inventory control checks for custodial materials and supplies.

    Participate in the key maintenance program.

    Operate security and fire safety systems.

    Inspect facilities and report any deficiencies.

    Maintain watch over the property and grounds to prevent trespassing, vandalism, and fire hazards. Coordinate with relevant authorities if needed.

    Order miscellaneous custodial materials and supplies as required.

    Maintain a bus license and accept bus driver assignments as needed.

    Safely operate the organization's vehicles, including buses, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.

    Ensure the safety and well-being of passengers, especially youth participants, during transportation.

    Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in proper working condition.

    Assist passengers, including youth, with boarding and exiting the bus safely.

    Maintain a clean and organized bus interior, including regular cleaning and sanitization.

    Communicate effectively with program staff regarding transportation schedules and any issues related to bus operations.

    Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that may occur during transportation.

    Attend training sessions and workshops to stay informed about changes in transportation regulations and safety protocols.

    Collaborate with program staff to plan and coordinate transportation for events, field trips, and other program activities.

    Provide excellent customer service to passengers and represent the organization positively in the community.

    Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    High School diploma or GED equivalent

    Skill and ability to drive a bus safely and efficiently

    Valid North Carolina State CDL Class B

    (P) Passenger and (S) School bus Endorsements on CDL License

    PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    Experience working with children

    CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications.

    PHYSICAL DEMAND:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

    Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

    Climb or balance.

    The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision includes depth perception and the ability to see color.
