    Minimum Qualifications Salaries:PSYCHIATRIST 1: $257,847PSYCHIATRIST 2: $269,333PSYCHIATRIST 2 (Children & Youth): $292,305PSYCHIATRIST 1: Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and completion of an accredited training program in general psychiatry acceptable by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for entrance into its examination. Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.PSYCHIATRIST 2:Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and board certification in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.PSYCHIATRIST 2 (Children &Youth)Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.     Duties Description Psychiatrists are essential to providing mental health services to the people OMH serves. They provide comprehensive and recovery oriented psychiatric treatment services built on principles of effective, measurable and accountable care. As medical doctors, psychiatrists are responsible for ensuring that all services are integrated to promote mental and physical health and recovery. Additionally, since psychopharmacology has become an integral component of modern mental health treatment, psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers. As a Psychiatrist 1, you will serve as a practicing specialist under the direction of a higher level Psychiatrist or Physician.As a Psychiatrist 2, you will serve as a practicing specialist and may oversee services for a treatment program, a group of clients or residents, a facility, or a unit.

    Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Prospective appointees will be:(1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. (2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. (3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees.
