    Description

    Position Title:
    Project Engineer

    Provide project management support for Project Managers and Account Executives through effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document and deliverable control, and forecasting of costs and profitability.

    Support and collaborate with company superintendents, foreman, engineers, detailers, and management to deliver quality and profitable projects.
    Track, forecast, report labor hours and material costs.
    Buyout major equipment and subcontracts.
    Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment/materials.
    Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope and specifications of project contract/subcontract.
    Maintain and control documents in compliance with UMC Standards as well as contractual compliance.
    Submit appropriate permit applications & coordinate to completion. Collaborate with field labor supervision to plan, organize and schedule project work including preparation of subcontract/contract integrated project schedule.
    Review contract drawings, detail drawings and specifications for scope.
    Coordinate equipment start-up and/or commissioning. Coordinate owner training and project acceptance.
    Apply for, track, and process work recovery from union locals.
    Assist with management of subcontractors to include: issuing POs, getting COIs, and confirmation of scheduling.
    Develop Schedule of Values/Billing under PM/AE guidance.
    Coordinate with ops team to perform progress/final/retention billing.
    Develop and retain mechanical systems knowledge including engineering, estimating, construction practices, and financial management.
    Ability to use estimating software to accurately estimate basic mechanical repair/retrofit work.

    • Ability to understand and communicate basic mechanical concepts.
    • Attention to detail errors & mistakes can result in significant financial losses.
    • Advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project, Access, and AutoCAD.
    BS or five (5) years project management or equivalent job experience

    • Construction Management, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering degree desired.
