    Summary of the Role:
    This role is a mix of responsibilities, requiring the employee to be based at our Headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA.

    The Senior Software Engineer focusing on PHP/Symfony at Wolfe plays a key role in bringing the product vision to life. With distinct business units such as Card Linked Gifting, an internal Gift Card Printing Facility, and high-traffic e-commerce applications, ensuring efficient systems is vital for our triumph. Back-end developers collaborate closely with product owners, designers, front-end developers, QA, and DevOps in one of our 5 cross-functional product teams. Our work environment is dynamic, operating on an Agile Scrum SDLC that emphasizes reducing bottlenecks and making adjustments based on metrics.

    If you enjoy delving into intricate details, designing systems, and implementing business logic, this role is for you. You see software development as a craft that requires continual refinement. You have dealt with complex systems, formalized business logic, and interfaced with third parties successfully. Operating with a focus on operations, you ensure your code is durable and easily comprehensible. You advocate for an SDLC that facilitates rapid iterations, transparency, and automation. Data-driven, you leverage metrics to identify bottlenecks and enhance processes and production quality.

    Application Stack:
    Our technology stack includes PHP, Symfony, Typescript, JavaScript, Nest, Java/SpringBoot, MySQL, Redis, Rabbit, Kubernetes, Twig, React, ReactNative, AWS ECS, EC2, RDS, Vercel, Datadog, Bitbucket Pipelines, and CloudFlare.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and take ownership of application code throughout the SDLC.
    • Specialize in building software systems using an MVC framework.
    • Review code, identify errors, security issues, and guide best practices.
    • Create implementation plans, conduct operational assessments, and incorporate logs and metrics for operational insights.
    • Follow the prescribed Kanban methodology, customize it for team needs, and maintain standards.
    • Write tests alongside code to ensure operational health.
    • Lead by example with effective communication, a positive mindset, and empathy.

    Qualifications:

    • Over 5 years of experience in web-based software development, with a focus on data modeling, API construction, and high-volume back-end systems.
    • At least 5 years of experience implementing Service Oriented Architectures using frameworks such as Spring Boot, .Net/.Net Core, Symfony, Django, etc.
    • Proficiency in agile development practices.
    • Experience with version control systems like git.
    • Demonstrated oversight of long-running systems and technical ownership.
    • Preferred experience in deploying applications in a SaaS model, automated testing, CI, DevOps practices, and asynchronous processing.
