Fareva is currently seeking an enthusiastic Lead Buyer Direct materials to join our FAREVA USA team in Henrico, VA.

About the role:

The Lead Buyer will work closely with the Category Managers to provide pricing and procurement strategy during the bidding process for new projects and ensure that optimal pricing is achieved.

The Lead Buyer is involves supporting Category Managers with specific strategic projects such as cost saving initiatives, supplier risk mitigation, or dedicated sourcing projects.

What you'll do:

New Product Development Responsibilities

· Coordinate price quotations for packaging components and raw materials as requested by the sales team

· Work closely with the Category Managers, Research and Development team, Tech Transfer project managers, and Sales team to align supplier preferences with the organization's strategies

· Benchmark and recommend process improvement initiatives

· Manage pipeline for procurement coordinators for new item set up

· Lead new supplier and material introduction through completion of respective qualification processes

· Define necessary site contacts with suppliers, construct communication processes, and initiate relationships with suppliers to support new business

Category Management Related Responsibilities

· Support Sales Team with customer price book requests

· Assist department in achieving cost savings targets in areas of influence

· Support site efforts to drive down total cost and reduce lead times

· Assure necessary change controls are initiated and implemented

· Optimize the supply base to leverage spend

Our ideal candidate:

Education and experience

· Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain, Business, Chemistry, or any other related technical discipline would be preferred

· Experience or in strategic sourcing and procurement, quality systems and operations, manufacturing, packaging, materials management, or relevant technical discipline is beneficial

· Previous manufacturing industry experience is preferred, though not required

· Candidate should have some familiarity with process improvement methods

· Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP, is desired

Skills and abilities the candidate should possess:

· Robust written and verbal communication skills

· The ability to work effectively across multiple functional disciplines and with people in various geographies and cultures

· Recent project management experience

· The ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous requests from various stakeholders within the organization

· Strong analytical and problem-solving mentality

· Effective persuasion and negotiation skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel

This position will report to Americas Procurement Director direct materials.
