Position Overview:
Amcon Laboratories is currently seeking an Purchasing Agent to join our team onsite only. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for category purchasing within the Amcon catalog by sourcing items through domestic and overseas vendors, managing inventory needs and ensuring product quality and delivery meets the company's needs. They will work closely with the warehouse and receiving teams monitoring packaging and quality as well as with the sales team on sourcing special requests for customers. The pay range will be between $21.00 to $23.00 per hour and you will be payed bi-weekly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage inventory ordering plans and execution for assigned product lines to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
- Follow up with suppliers and vendors on orders, delivery timeframes, and invoicing.
- Identify, source, and negotiate with new suppliers, vendors (domestic and overseas), to ensure Amcon's changing business needs are consistently met, margins are maximized, and product lead times are minimized.
- Work with our warehouse team to make appropriate inventory receiving plans and to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Work with Sales and Marketing teams to establish a pipeline for new products and assist in annual catalog review.
- Maintain descriptive product web listings.
- Monitor pricing from suppliers and understand competitor pricing to ensure products are priced competitively while maintaining margin expectations.
Qualifications:
- Effective written and oral communication style for both internal and external communications.
- High level of critical thinking by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum Required: High School Diploma.
- Minimum Required: 1+ years as a Purchasing Agent or similar role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management software.
