    Are you a detailed oriented person that is ready to step up as the Head of our kitchen? Our Chef / Kitchen Manager must be well organized, with experience managing kitchens and teams. Those are the assets that we need to continue growing our company and the culinary staff. We want results-oriented candidates to apply for this position.

    This position is full-time and will manage all aspects of the kitchen.

    The Ideal Candidate:
    • Has catering or restaurant experience demonstrating strong leadership skills, supervisory experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen staff, sales team, and company executives.
    • Manage multiple priorities.
    • Professional communication and computer skills.
    • Client Focus attitude executing their menu for their celebrations.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and have the flexibility to take on additional responsibilities as they arise.

    With a reputation for fine dining experiences, Caribbean Caterers has been serving the DC Metropolitan Area for over 20 years. An off-premise catering company located in Rockville, MD, we are customer-focused to ensure curating great experiences and not just great food. Knowledge of Caribbean cuisine is a plus, but not required, as our menu will attract palettes from all over the globe.

    The hospitality and restaurant industry is transitioning, due to CoVid, and we are no different. We have specialized in large weddings and galas, and look forward to increasing weekday events, expanding into new industries, and refining the weddings and galas to fit current concerns for safety.     Responsibilities:
    • Support the company's overall goals.
    • Oversee all kitchen operations to ensure a high standard of quality and consistency for all menu items.
    • Manage food cost, labor cost, and waste management including sourcing new vendors and products as needed.
    • Assist with operational logistics, receiving, and staff hiring/scheduling.
    • Maintain cleaning systems in the BOH and demonstrate clean work habits and time management.
    • Maintain a strong work ethic while building and maintain team morale.

    Qualifications & Experience:
    • 3 to 5 years professional commercial kitchen experience, with at least 2 years as a supervisor in the capacity of kitchen manager or head chef.
    • culinary degree preferred but not required.
    • Proficient computer skills – working knowledge of Excel, Word, Google Sheets, and Catering software a plus.
    • Department of Health Certification.
    • Ability to demonstrate and re-enforce basic and advanced culinary skills, and quality control menu items as needed.
    • Strong inventory management and waste plan efficiency skills, past positive food cost & labor cost numbers
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Ability to manage and motivate kitchen team members.
    • Experience ordering and cultivating relationships with purveyors.
