    Heartland AEA has a full-time position available for the school year, based out of the Newton office, serving students in the Newton school districts.

    The configuration of this assignment is to be determined.

    This position will have a 192-day contract and will provide services that assist parents and professionals in meeting the educational and social/emotional/behavioral and mental health needs of children and youth and will include Child Find responsibilities within a RtI model.

    Qualifications:

    Qualified applicants must be appropriately licensed/certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, having a Professional Service License (or have the ability to obtain a license) and have a post-master's level of professional training in an approved school psychology training program with institutional recommendations.

    Prefer applicants who have a specialist degree or master's plus 30 hours and a desire to work within a RtI/MTSS model.

    Bilingual abilities are a plus, but not required. Qualified candidates should have an understanding of function of behavior and best practices in instruction for behavior.

    Succesful candidates will have a balanced set of skills to include behavioral, adaptive behavior, and academic assessment, intervention design with system level support and consultation is required.

    Strong background in MTSS and understanding of integration of academics/SEBMH within a system.

    Conducting and writing Functional Behavior Assessments, designing Behavior Intervention Plans, and modeling and coaching SEBMH instructional strategies and interventions are required.

    Candidates will need to have strong applied behavior analysis skills and experience. Demonstrated experience developing and fostering strong relationships with district staff, families, and AEA teammates is required.

    In addition, the ability to communicate persuasively with parents and school personnel and collaborate in a problem solving approach is required.

    Experience programming for students with significant cognitive and/or SEBMH needs is preferred.
