    Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Structural Engineer or Principal Structural Engineer to join our Design and Analysis team of qualified, diverse individuals.

    Our team provides a unique opportunity where team members support both structural design and structural analysis for development projects.


    This position would be analysis focused but may also provide cross training in basic structural design as program needs require.


    Work for this position will be located at our Clearfield, UT site with possible support assignments at our Magna, UT site.

    Our Design and Analysis team works with experienced engineers, supporting sophisticated analysis of composite aerospace structures and processes. We engineer the latest composite structures for military/commercial aircraft and launch structures and are leaders in next-generation structure development.     Responsibilities:
    Analysis of laminates, sandwich structures, bonded and bolted assemblies using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

    Perform trade studies for development designs and analysis of composite aerospace structures

    Supporting Research & Development, Testing, and Manufacturing groups during the development process

    Characterization of material properties when needed: Test planning, test support, and data reduction

    Primary focus of position is structural analysis, but may include working with design engineers and learning basic design skills

    We are part of the Vehicle Engineering organization and work closely with the composites technology development organization, research & development engineers, engineering technicians, and process engineers to provide state-of-the-art solutions to the most engaging problems.

    We work a 9/80 work week, which gives us every other Friday off to pursue passions outside the office.

    Travel is up to 10%, all within the continental US and typically involves a 2-3 day trip once per year.

    This requisition may be filled at an Engineer or Principal Engineer level depending on the qualifications listed below.


    Basic Qualifications:
    Engineer Structural

    Minimum education or experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math):

    2 years with Bachelor's or 0 Years with Master's

    Demonstrated educational or industry experience in composite structural analysis

    Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

    This clearance is not required to start employment but must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

    Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

    This SAP is not required to start employment but must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

    Principal Engineer Structural

    Minimum education or experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math): 5 years with Bachelor's ; 3 years with Master's; 0 Years with PhD

    Demonstrated industry experience in composite structural analysis

    Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

    This clearance is not required to start employment but must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

    Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP).

    This SAP is not required to start employment but must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Current DOD Secret security clearance

    Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) pre and post processors and sizing software such as Abaqus CAE, Femap, NX Simulation, HyperMesh, OptiStruct, and HyperSizer

    Understanding of structure buckling, stability, and modal analysis

    Composite structural analysis experience

    Basic or intermediate skills using CAD software packages such as NX or Catia


    Salary Range:
    $75,300 - $112,900


    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

    In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
