    The Opportunity This position works out of our North Chicago, IL location in the Core Lab Division.

    Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe.


    The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

    As the Distribution Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for Distribution Operations that process approximately 2,500 orders daily for all US customers and International Core Diagnostics affiliates.

    A state of the art, highly automated, facility and order processing system are utilized to process orders.

    Distribution Operations processes in excess of $1.7 billion in sales worldwide.


    This position is responsible for all warehousing operations at K-complex in support of Distribution as well as the receiving, storage, and handling of manufacturing commodities.

    Major functions include warehousing, shipping, dock operations, and inventory control.
    What You'll Work OnManage highly automated distribution system.
    Technologies include pick by light; wireless network communication; automated inventory replenishment.; and fault tolerance computer platforms.
    Manage dock operations responsible for preparing all domestic and international shipments before they are given to various carriers.

    Manage warehousing and control of $45 million inventory:

    all of Core Diagnostics Reagent, Instruments and Spare Parts inventory for domestic distribution and international distribution including manufacturing commodities.

    Manage receiving functions K-complex for both finished goods and commodities.
    Develop budget plans/updates for approval by upper management.

    Total budget responsibility of $20-25MM and total capital budget of $500M.Manage two shift operations with a head count responsibility around 85 Abbott employees and 12-15 contract employees.

    Responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality System including quality policy, planning, the organizational structure to support the Quality System, and management review of the Quality System to determine its effectiveness.

    Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations.6-8 years management experience.10 – 12 Total combined years of experience in Operations / Material Management / Distribution / Warehousing.

    A background in computerized inventory systems as well as budgeting and financial analysis is required.
    Preferred Qualifications MBA desirable.
    APICS certification desirable.
    Excellent analytical and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functional and build consensus across functional, business unite and geographic boundaries.
    Knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes.
    CAPA certified and experience with SAP and other distribution shipping systems.
    Must have excellent employee relations skills along with experience managing in an operations environment.
