- Instructs players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport
- Collaborates with assistant high school and middle school coaches on the program design, strategies and techniques
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
- Assesses players skills, monitors players during competition and practice
- Determines game strategy
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury
- Models' sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate behavior towards players, officials, colleagues, parents and spectators
- Maintains the equipment and storage in orderly fashion and assumes responsibility for its security.
- Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students
- Submits a list of award winners to the athletic director at the end of the season
- Participates in special activities ex: patent's night, banquets, award nights, pep assemblies, parades and community events
- Maintains and distributes up to date rosters, eligibility information, emergency data and other related records
- Models' nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
- Attends clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
None
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Experience as a high school Baseball Coach required (Varsity level preferred). Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must possess knowledge of the MHSAA rules and regulations, and rules regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school administrators, parents and the community.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as MHSAA guidelines, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, are, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to operate computers, interactive technology equipment and related software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision and distance vision.
