    Summary



    This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development OIG - Office of Special Inquiry. As an Attorney-Adviser (General), you will lead administrative investigations and special reviews that are in OSI's portfolio. The successful candidate will be passionate about writing, have exceptional evidence-evaluation skills, an unwavering sense of fairness and objectivity, excellent oral and written briefing skills, and the ability exercise good judgment while working independently.



    Duties


    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-15 . If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    The Office of Special Inquiry (OSI) has wide-ranging jurisdiction but focuses its work on high-profile issues affecting HUD's ability to carry out its mission. OSI conducts administrative investigations into alleged misconduct by HUD senior officials, and special reviews of sensitive programmatic matters that involve potential violations of law, regulation, policy, or gross mismanagement. OSI also manages HUD OIG's whistleblower protection program, which includes conducting investigations of alleged whistleblower retaliation by HUD contractors or grantees.

    As an Attorney-Adviser (General), you will:

    • Lead investigations and inquiries in OSI's portfolio. Analyze allegations for potential violations of law; create investigative plans; conduct investigative interviews; obtain electronic and documentary evidence, including via subpoena; review and organize evidence; and draft investigative reports that may be publicly released.
    • Brief supervisors on status and findings of investigations and make appropriate recommendations.
    • Perform other tasks and projects as appropriate.
