    Job Summary:


    The benefits specialist is responsible for administering of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan.


    Duties/Responsibilities:
    Work directly with Third Party Administrators (TPA) on all employee 401(k) inquiries and distributions

    Work with TPA in gathering data for ADP (average deferral percentage) & NDT (non-discrimination testing) and ensure all testing pass.

    Administer and work on ACA reporting, including, but not limited to the measurement period and 1095 mailings and filings with the vendor
    Manage all IRS and DOL audits and gather required documents and information
    Work closely with 5500 auditors and ensure all reports are accurate
    Participate as a non-voting member of the fiduciary committee

    Administer employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.

    Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
    Conduct weekly reporting and auditing of various contracts and programs.

    Assist in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process with the broker of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company.

    Assists with the open enrollment process.
    Other duties as assigned.


    Required Skills/Abilities:
    Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
    Extensive knowledge of working with Unions and Health and Welfare plans.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Must be an advance user with Microsoft Excel.
    Extensive knowledge with retirement plans and ADP/NDT testing.
    Extensive knowledge in ACA reporting, 5500 filing, and DOL/IRS audits.
    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
    Able to think outside the box to improve processes.
    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.


    Education and Experience:
    Preferred Bachelors degree in Accounting/HR/Business or related field of study.
    Two years experience in benefits administration.
