    Description
    Duties


    • Instructs and evaluates rated and non-rated aviators in pilot and instructor pilot proficiency in the AH-64D/E Longbow Attack Helicopter and Longbow Crew Trainer.
    • Instructs and evaluates rated and non-rated aviators in the AH-64D/E Longbow Attack Helicopter utilizing systems, techniques, and maneuvers.
    • Operates the multi-engine, tandem seated AH-64D/E Longbow Attack Helicopter while instructing or evaluating the copilot/gunners station.
    • Conducts classroom instruction on all aspects of the AH-64D/E to include training maneuvers, aircraft systems, aerial gunnery, basic attack helicopter employment/tactics and other subjects as assigned.
    • Monitors standardization requirements; recommends changes in lesson plans, program of instructions, training methods and techniques

    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
    • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
    • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
    • This position requires an Army Class II flight physical prior to employment.
    • This position has been designated Mission Essential.
    • This position requires rotating shift work

    Specialized Experience:
    One year of specialized experience which includes (1) implementing methods of instruction for student pilot in the AH-64 Helicopter; (2) evaluating student pilots in all levels of development; (3) operating the AH-64 Helicopter while instructing and evaluating the student pilots
    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

    Certifications:
    This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating

    FAA Medical Certification:
    Position requires the incumbent to possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations at the time of appointment

    Minimum Flight Hours Requirement:
    Total Flight Hours- 1500 Pilot in Command - 250 Night Flying - 75 Flying Time in the Last 12 Months May be waivered, subject to approval authority) Instructor Hours - 500 Heavy Helicopter Hours Up to 250 hours flying time acquired in heavy multi-engine airplanes may be substituted) Instrument Hours - 75 Actual Weather- 10 (This requirement applies to AH-64E candidates ONLY
    Candidate without the required 10 weather hours will be evaluated/hired as AH-64D instructors per OPM requirements) FLIGHT HOURS MUST BE DOCUMENTED ON THE RESUME IN THE ABOVE FORMAT

    Grade Requirement:
    Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12)
