    Position Summary

    Performs hemodynamic monitoring procedures of a highly specialized nature as well as assists the physician during all procedures. Works with patients from adolescents to geriatrics. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.


    General Functions:

    • Performs hemodynamic monitoring and stress testing procedures
    • Scrubs and assists physicians with procedures
    • Demonstrates the proper operations of Cath Lab/Special Procedures equipment
    • Assists the nursing personnel with emergency procedures for sudden adverse development in a patient's condition
    • Assumes responsibility for maintenance and quality control of equipment
    • Assumes on-call duty. Responds within 30 minutes to the hospital for emergency procedures
    • Cleans and packages instruments/supplies for sterilization; delivers to and retrieves from sterilization area
    • Keeps Cath Lab and Special Procedures areas clean at all times
    • Orders and maintains appropriate levels of supplies
    • Assumes role of Monitor Tech as needed, ensuring that data documented is complete and accurate
    • Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
    • Maintains safe environment
    • Addresses patient population-specific needs
    • Participates in Performance Improvement activities
    Position Qualifications

    Minimum Education:
    Graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in health science.

    Preferred Education:
    Formal cardiovascular technology training

    Minumum Experience: 1 year health care experience.

    Preferred Experience: 1 year in Cardiac Cath Lab


    Required Certifications/Licensure:


    New employee is required to schedule exam and achieve pass rate within 1 year from date of hire as Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS) from accredited agency such as Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

    Incumbent employee hired after January 2015, without RCIS, is required to schedule exam and achieve pass rate within 6 months from date of notification of change in requirements.

    Required Courses/Completions (e.g.

    , CPR):


    • Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire
    • AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role.
