    Position Summary:

    The Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for Aquatics will oversee and manage all aspects of the Aquatics program and facilities including the Nathan Johnson Aquatics Center and Keith Hills Pool. This position will oversee maintenance and operations of these facilities as well as reservation, hours, and scheduling. The Assistant Director is responsible for the direct oversight of lifeguards, swim instructors, and other part-time staff. This position reports to the Director of Campus Recreation and is part of the Campus Recreation leadership team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Develop and implement Aquatic programming and services which supplement the mission of Campbell University.
    This position is responsible for all aspects of the hiring, training, mentoring, and termination of aquatics employees including lifeguards, instructors, and office staff as needed.
    Oversight and direction of aquatics admin and 40 student/part-time staff including lifeguard, instructors, and desk workers.
    Responsible for scheduling, maintenance, and upkeep of all aquatic facilities and pools including Keith Hills and the Nathan Johnson Aquatics Center.
    Oversee aquatic supply purchases following university purchasing guidelines and maintain inventory needed for operations.
    Develops and implements policies and procedures that ensure the safety of all patrons at all pools.
    Monitors and inspects pool areas to ensure safety; works with director and contracted maintenance companies to maintain pools and equipment.
    This position will create policies to keep participants safe and know how to respond to emergencies and train staff to respond.
    This position must be able to make decisions as well as complete proper documentation during emergencies including accidents and incidents.
    This position is responsible for ensuring all safety measures are in place and staff are trained on how to respond to accident and incidents and complete appropriate documentation.
    Coordinates with the Athletic Department for scheduling practice and competition times for the Campbell Women's Swim team.
    Responsible for scheduling and operating swim lessons, swim school, and other events that occur in either aquatic facility.
    Conduct certifications for Lifeguards and Instructors.
    Manage daily checks of the facility and maintain water chemicals levels.
    Maintenance active certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, and CPO.
    Prepares monthly reports for and meets with the Director of Campus Recreation.
    Scheduling in service training twice per year for Lifeguards, Instructors, and Desk workers.
    Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
    Develop policies and procedures to help mitigate liability and risk management within facilities.
    This position will be responsible for ensuring all HR paperwork has been completed and keep accurate records and approve payroll each month for all part-time employees.
    Must maintain regular office hours and be available during those times, unless needed at events.
    Report to the Director of Campus Recreation on appropriate topics of importance and need.
    Other duties as assigned by the Director of Campus Recreation.
    Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to, FERPA and other state and federal mandates.

    Education/Experience:

    Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred in recreation, sport management, physical education, exercise science, or related field.
    1-3 years' experience with pool management and operations in an academic setting desirable.
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.
    Current Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor Certifications.
    Current Certified Pool Operator Certification.
    Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
    Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
    Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology.
    Familiarity with/Knowledgeable regarding IMLeagues, WhenToWork, Connect2Concepts, and other similar Campus Recreation software's.
    Knowledge of /Proficiency with /Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication, including web/text/chat platforms
    Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
    Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
    Exercise independent judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
    Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet set deadlines.
    Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment.
    Ability to work regular evening or weekend hours.
