    INTRODUCTION TO ROLE

    As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the kitchen and surrounding area.

    WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    You have proven experience working as a Cook. You're energetic and comfortable working in a team environment within a fast-paced Café. You can follow recipes and complete food orders in a timely manner.

    WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

    Prepare food ordered by restaurant customers using various kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers, meat slicers, food processors, etc.).

    • Always ensure proper food handling and safety.
    • Perform shift opening and closing duties, such as starting equipment and cleaning refrigeration units, grill, surrounding areas, and other kitchen equipment.
    • Maintain kitchen and cooking areas and ensure kitchen equipment and food storage areas are clean, sanitary, and organized as required by the Health Department Rules and Regulations. Report any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager.
    • Restock products as needed throughout the shift.
    • Regularly check the menu cycle to ensure all food items are available in advance, notifying the manager of any shortages.


    WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

    The Cook reports to the Café Supervisor, Café Manager, and Café Attendants.

    WHAT YOU BRING
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
    • SERV Safe food handling certification is preferred.
    • Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques (preferred)


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • The ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Ability to work in a hot kitchen
    • Read and follow recipes
    • Must be able to see and hear
    • Move in a fast-paced environment

    The hospitality environment is fast-paced, and at times you may be required to cover or assist with tasks/job functions outside of the job you were hired for. We require each of our team members to have an All-Hands-On-Deck mindset. This means you may be tasked with other functions and are expected to complete those tasks with the same level of enthusiasm and dedication as expected with your normal job duties.
